In
my last post, I reported that the number of delegates attending Britdoc this
year was about 800. The festival is now reporting that that number is
closer to 950. You're also now able to listen in on some of the talks
here. I highly recommend you take a listen to the one entitled "Selling the D-Word."
Ingrid Kopp has some really fantastic photos from this week on her blog.
And, here are the prizewinners from Britdoc '08:
Best Feature went (not surprisingly) to Man on Wire. (The film opened yesterday in theaters in New York.) This is just the latest in a slew of prizes for this film over the past year and I anticipate many Cinema Eye nominations for it, as well. A special mention nod was given to John Dower's Thriller in Manila by the jury.
Jerry Rothwell's wonderful Heavy Load won the Audience Award.
And, the Secret Life of Cranes won the VW Passat/Fourdocs Best Short and a brand new HD camera package to go along with the cash prize for its director, Eva Weber. This is the longer version of her gorgeous short called City of Cranes.
