Astra Taylor's latest documentary, Examined Life, is rolling out its theatrical release. I saw this film at the last Woodstock Film Festival in October and loved, loved, loved it. I also got a chance to sit down with its director here in New York this past fall to talk about the unusual subject matter she covers in her cinematic work. If so inclined, you can read our talk here. Or you can read Dennis Lim's New York Times article here.
Examined Life opens Wednesday the 25th (day after tomorrow) in New York City at the IFC Center, and will also play San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, Miami, Portland, New Orleans, and other cities in the coming months.
As always, opening weeks are crucial, so go support! As an extra treat, some of the subjects in the film, our current day's most brilliant minds, will be on hand to join Taylor for post-screening Q&As at some of the evening screenings. Avital Ronell will be at the IFC on opening night and on Tuesday, March 3. Kwame Anthony Appiah will appear Thursday, February 26, and the exuberant Cornel West will appear Thursday, March 5. Keep checking the website for updated schedules and director / special guest appearances.
