UnionDocs Collaborative in Wiliamsburg, Brooklyn is offering a new program for nonfiction media research and group production. There are three resident and three non-resident openings for '09 - '10 (September to September). Six participants live at 322 Union Avenue in the apartments above the gallery and screening room and six will set up housing for themselves independently.
The Collaborative is a one-year program for twelve emerging media producers, theorists and curators to explore contemporary approaches to the documentary arts and a process for developing an innovative group project throughout the year. Residents will have access to direct contact and structured exchanges with visiting artists; exposure to a variety of practices and models; the opportunity to network and collaborate; one-on-one mentorships; and, an opportunity to showcase group work in a toured exhibition and/or publication.
This year, there will be several masterclasses and other special events with over thirty visiting artists, all of whom represent a broad range of work in film, video, radio, photography and interactive documentary.
