Caitlin Boyle, creator of Film.Sprout, will host a workshop called "Building Grassroots Distribution for Your Independent Film," Sunday, April 11th, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Common Spaces Co-op in Brooklyn. The workshop fee is $150.
Boyle will lead filmmakers through the strategic steps necessary to build and maintain a grassroots audience around your film. Participants will learn about staging successful community-oriented screenings and outreach campaigns, building alternate revenue streams, and encouraging targeted activism in support of the film's message. Case studies will be presented outlining a range of approaches, as well as some cautionary tales. Participants will also present their own outreach distribution plans (so you need to have one!) and receive feedback from Boyle and fellow peers. There will be a panel of filmmakers, outreach coordinators and film programmers that will join in to offer advice and guidance. The workshop is limited to 15 participants. You can sign up and reserve your spot here.
